A Wonderful Sugar Scrub

Renewing Sugar Scrub

1 1/4 cup sugar       (I just use regular granulated sugar from Kroger, but you can kick it up)
1/2 cup grapeseed oil (4 oz) (I get mine at Trader Joe's)
6-12 drops Essential Oils to achieve desired scent

I made this with 4 drops each of Peppermint and Orange.  It's a great brightening combination.   That's also what is shown in the photo below.
Last year, at the end of school, I used Stress Away and made a special sugar scrub for our teachers, to show some of my Thanks.  God Bless Them!
We used 2 small plastic containers, but you can easily use canning or baby food jars.  Not only is it pretty tasty, but it does a wonderful job of exfoliating my tootsies and hands in preparation for warmer weather.

For Clean Hands

I have tried using my oils to make hand soap, and I love to have good smelling soaps.  Sometimes though these crunchy recipes just don't cut it for me.  This is by far my favorite and most simple recipe for an easy hand soap!

Refreshing Hand Cleanser

1/3 cup Bonners Castille soap
4-5 drops Essential Oil (I used Thieves)
2-3 drops Vitamin E if you are so inclined, it's optional

Add oils and soap to hand foaming pump, and fill the rest of the way with water.

Spring Cleaning

Have you tried our Thieves Cleaner?

Last year, I attended an Event where I had the option of purchasing some discount items, and Thieves cleaner was one of them.  Being available at a discount, Plus not having to pay shipping, I decided to give it a try.

And I learned...  I Love Thieves Cleaner!

This product is so versatile.  You can make  your own cleanser stronger or lighter depending on how much base Thieves cleaner you add to water.   It's that time of year again, time for spring cleaning!   So here's a recipe for Restoring Household Cleaner, it's the base I use to clean everything, messes on floors, counters, it's my everyday cleaner.   The 16 oz. Spray bottle came from https://www.sks-bottle.com/340c/340c/fin67h.html?hc_location=ufi

Restoring Household Cleaner

1 Tbsp Thieves Cleaner
1 7/8 cup water

That's all there is to it.  And it's so pure, that my kids and animals can be exposed to it, and not get sick or anything.   I love that about our products!

My Oily D.O.

Since becoming Oily, one of the things that I like to make on my own, is homemade deodorant.  And It's That Time Again.  Today is a great day for making homemade deodorant!

I wished for a Vitality Kit

A couple months ago, due to FDA regulations, Young Living began creating bottles especially formulation for Internal Usage of our Oils.  They contain the same oils as the other, but the suggestions on the bottle are solely for oral use, drinking or in a capsule.  When the Vitality line came out, I wasn't interested in investing heavily.   Then, I received a sample of Grapefruit Vitality, and it smells and tastes the same as regular Grapefruit.  Though normally Grapefruit isn't available in a 5 mL.  I liked it! Then I heard they were subbing out some of the Oils in the Premium Starter Kit with Vitality versions.  That perked my interest, I want to be able to Present the most accurate Starter Kit, and information that I can, when I teach, so that my team members, I am giving them the most current information.   So I've been slowly remembering to say "I drink Lemon Vitality" instead of just Lemon in my water.   Towards the end of last month, I decided to make an Oily investment in Vitality Oils, but I couldn't decide where to start.  I asked around, and found myself venting to the oily sky, that I wish they had a Vitality Collection, so that I wouldn't have to narrow it down.  I put in my order, and The Next Day (not kidding!), the Young Living Spring Collection came out.  And what was on page 5?  A Vitality Collection!  Young Living read my mind!

My Oily Friend Amy Moore shared this graphic to show off the new Vitality Culinary Collection, and invited us to share too.  It makes me want them all!

It contains 5 mL Vitality versions of Ginger. Basil, Thyme, Lemon, Peppermint, Rosemary, Black Pepper, Lime, Oregano, and Cinnamon Bark!  All Fabulous for your Kitchen Collection!

10 fabulous oils and the wholesale price is only $110.25.  I'll have all my bases covered now.  Sometimes Oily Wishes do come true!

The Nose Plays

This morning I went into the bathroom, and found an empty bottle of Raven on my sink.  Funny, I didn't use Raven yesterday, and no one has the cough coughs.  Well, Jacob was feeling iffy.

It turns out my husband made a new nasal rinse concoction this morning, I found the bottle on the edge of his sink. It was an old 5 mL RC bottle, but over the RC was a small label with  "The Nose Plays"  written on it.   It's got RC, Raven, Frank, Lavender, and Rosemary. He called it, "The Nose Plays".

If you haven't seen Ocean's 11 (or 12, or 13) go watch them all.   In Ocean's 13 Matt Damon puts on a  gratuitous fake nose, and argues, The Nose Plays!   We didn't think it would but it did.  Just like we didn't think we'd find a happy blend of Oils to help rinse out Eric's sinuses.  But we did!  He has chronic sinus issues, and his doctor recommended a daily sinus rinse.  He uses a Neil Med squeeze bottle filled with water and a packet of salt so that it ends up being saline.  To this saline, he has been adding 1 drop of RC for his daily flush.  It's not a 'cure', but it has drastically improved his health baseline, thus making his other medications more effective since he doesn't have to use them as often.   He still has issues on occasion, so he's been mixing it up with other oils like Lavender or Rosemary,   but he misses the RC.  So he mixed up his own!  So I wanted to share it with you:

The Nose Plays

25 drops RC
25 drops Raven
10 drops Lavender
 7 drops Rosemary
 7 drops Frankincense

Mix in an empty 5 mL bottle. Then use 1 drop in Saline sinus rinse in a Neti-Pot or Neil Med Sinus Rinse bottle.   Hope the Nose Plays for you all too!

Oily Bug Spray

Welcome Spring!

This is the Recipe for Bug Spray I've used for the last two summers.  Not only does it do a nice job at keeping bugs away.  The only thing I can tell between using this and some other chemical crud is that this gets absorbed in the skin a lot quicker, which makes sense, since this is all natural, so I need to reapply every half hour or so.

This recipe was a combination of things I found online summer 2014, but I didn't realize for a while it uses LLP within it, so sometimes I get relief from applying another layer of spritz.  Summer 2015 I made it in tinier bottles, easier to keep in my purse or hand, for frequent applications while we were outdoors.   Feel free to mix it up, if you don't have Palo Santo, try Citronella.

Thieves Cleaning my Jewelry

As we near the end of March, I noticed that my few pieces of aquamarine jewelry are looking pretty grimy.  Back in the day, when we lived in California, I worked in a jewelry store.  When I left I 'borrowed' a couple tubs of jewelry cleaner.  But it's been a long while since I used it all up, though it was also chock full of chemicals.  One thing I recall about cleaning jewelry from my days at the store, you don't want to use regular soap, because it will leave grime on your stones.  You might get the dirt out, but you'll likely leave behind a film that will detract from the sparkle and natural beauty of the stones.

So I decided to look up a recipe for using Essential Oils, a more natural cleaner to retain the natural beauty of my stones.   Here goes my experiment.

Recipe for Oily Jewelry Cleaner

2 tsp Thieves Cleaner
2 tsp Witch Hazel
1 tsp Baking Soda
3 drops Lemon oil
3 drops Tea Tree oil

Mix in a glass jar, soak jewelry in for a minute or so, then remove, gently brush with toothbrush.  Do not scrub or use on pearls, opals, or turquoise.  Rinse clear with water and pat dry.

If you want to see my Video of using it and creating it, here you go:

Sorry I turned it sideways a quarter of the way through, I'm not a professional videographer.
Photos are more my thing. ;)

Jams and Oils

I've been hosting a Jamberry Party this week, and a few of my friends have asked how I take them off.   I incorporate using Young Living Essential Oils into the removal of my Jamberry Nail Wraps.

For some reason, I couldn't get the computer to switch directions while recording, so it recorded in two separate pieces.   I also couldn't get it to merge them together.  So here you go, 2 valuable chunks.

So for you here to review how I remove my Jamberry wraps with Essential Oils.

Enjoy!  Hope you are able to do some healthy removal, and enjoy combining these great products!

Ears and Improvisation

So I have this blend I use, I call it my Snoochie Blend.  It's 10 drops each of Melrose, Purification, and Lavender, and I use it around my ears and sinuses when I'm having congestion.  Last fall, I made a youtube video on what I do with my Snoochie Blend, it's not good, but here you go -

This week caught me off guard.  Jacob woke up Tuesday morning feverish.   Sam had gotten sick the week before, and it was Jacob's turn.  He woke up grumpy, and coughing more than usual.  I didn't like the look he had, so I took him into the Dr. in the afternoon.  He had a fever by naptime. And he had an ear infection.   I didn't see that coming!

So since then I've been trying to smother us all in the Snoochie Blend. But Chris got an ear infection by Thursday too, and apparently, a cough begun by some sort of viral crud can  lead to ear infections.  Oy.  So far, I've been applying to myself and haven't caught it.... yet.  Knock on wood.

Last night was a girl's night out for me, and I was so grateful for it, as I'd been home with sickies all week.  But one of my friend's ear was in need of some support, and she didn't have any Melrose.  So we Improvised:

10 drops Purification
10 drops Lavender
7 drops Melaleuca A.  (Tea Tree)
3 drops Thieves (which has Clove and Rosemary just like Melrose)
2 drops Panaway (since there's Clove but also Helichrysum, which I've been reading lately is great for ear support)

This blend smelled so fabulous.  We put it in a roller, and added some grapeseed carrier oil.  And she applied it around the base of her ear and down to her throat, just like I did in my video.
Within probably half an hour she started to feel some differences, she wasn't sure if it was good things or not.  But this morning, she told me her ear was feeling tons better!  So I wanted to share this Improv Success Story!

Amy's Cuts and Butts Awesomesauce

I went to visit my friend Amy on MLK day with the boys, so that all our kids could play thunderdome while we talked Oils.  One of my favorite recipes that she let me sample was this one. It's Fabulous for EVERYTHING!   This is what they were thinking of when they created the phrase, "awesomesauce".   So when my sister in law Erica and I met up this week for a Make-n-Take session of our own, I wanted to make it.    It was so much to make all kinds of goodies.   This is Amy's Recipe for her homemade neosporin.   We just called it Cuts and Butts.

Amy's Cuts and Butts

1/4 cup coconut oil (the organic solid at room temperature type)
1/4 cup olive oil
1 Tbsp beeswax
20 drops Lavender oil
12 drops Frankincense oil
10 drops Lemon oil
8 drops Tea Tree aka Melaleuca

Melt beeswax in a double boiler.  I use a glass bowl on top of a boiling pot of water.  Once melted add coconut oil, and wait until it melts and is uniform.  Then add the olive oil, mix and remove from heat.  Add Young Living Essential Oils.   Then pour into desired container, it makes ~5 ounces.   We made two baby food jars.

2016 Goals and Oola

I was listening to Corie, one of our upline Diamonds, discuss about Top Tips for 2016, and I realized, I did write down my business goals, but not post them.

One of my biggest goals is to be Executive by June.
The reason for that is a subgoal - I'm going to Convention.   But they just sent around a note that the Si6 'Silver in 6' reward program is going to be discontinued March 1st.   They will grandfather anyone in who has already achieved .  So I'm going to try to kick it up a notch, by offering this special deal for anyone who would like to join my team, or to kick it up by joining our monthly frequent shopper program, Essential Rewards.

I've been reading the book - Oola: Finding Balance in an Unbalanced World by Dave Braun and Troy Amdahl.  If you haven't checked out this book, please do so!  It's Awesome! Oola is defined as a State of Awesomeness.   And when you do that by boosting 7 different life categories, when you are balanced, your life wheel rolls smoothly.  That's a very abbreviated version of it.  I follow the OolaLife on Periscope.  When Gary and Mary Young read the book, they loved it too.  And they got together with the Oola Guys to develop 2 Oola based Oil blends:  Oola Balance and Oola Grow.  Then last year Young Living and Oola got together and developed the Infused 7, based on the 7 Principles of Oola:  Faith, Family, Field, Finance, Friends, Fitness, and Fun.

One of the first assignments as I finished the book, was to find My Why.   To do that, I pick 3 goals for each of the 7 F's, and then find one Goal to start on with regard to them.

Finance
1. To be Debt - free.  Don't spend what we don't have.
2. Pay off Disney credit card
3. Pay Medical Debts.

Fitness
1. Run a 5K
2. Lose 50 pounds
3. Exercise to Sweat Everyday

Faith
1. Read a Devotional Everyday
2. Join a small group
3. Church choir - maybe rejoin in the fall

Friends
1. Be a better friend, travel to see them, offer to host
2. Visit once a week
3.  Send a Birthday Card in the mail

Field
1. Care Calls - one or two a week, monthly team calls
2. Weekly Perisocpe
3. Executive by Convention in Utah (was supposed to be June, but now by March hopefully)

Family
1. Yell less
2. From 4-7 No Computer/work, Community Screen Time, unless Family Movie Night
3. Dates with Each Child, one per month / Monthly Date with Eric

Fun
1. Wii U once a week
2. Save $ for Family Vacation
3. Weekly Alone Time

A Winter Special for January and February

The Purple Notebook

So I have this Purple Spiral Notebook that I was given when I attended my first Young Living class.  It was for a Raindrop Training Class, done downtown in November 2014.  My generous mother in law sent me, so that I could learn to do the Raindrop Technique for massage and spinal support.   I only knew one person in that room, thankfully, she'd saved me a seat.  By the time I left later that day I had a half dozen new friends.  These were my people, they love Young Living Essential Oils as much as I do!  They handed me a bag when I arrived, it had a notebook, pen, and folder of information on the coming training, as well as a bottle of White Angelica!

Immediately, I started taking notes in my class.  And in classes that followed, and now I take notes when I watch Youtube videos, Periscopes, and the biggest one was the Young Living Summit from this past November, 2 solid weeks of awesome presentions.  About halfway through the YL Summit, I filled my book, and needed another one.  Eric rana to the store, and picked up another spiral notebook.  Coincidently, it was purple too.

Though I have been known to take many notes, I haven't been doing much with them.   So in the new year, I hope to share some of my notes from the purple notebook with you guys, so if you weren't able to make/attend/listen/watch any classes, I can share my knowledge with you.  Heck, maybe even you'll take a few notes of your own.  They say if you write it down, you have a better chance of being able to retain.   That's how I learn/remember/study.  I have to hear it, or see it, AND write it down for it to get in there.  If I actually thumb back through it later, I retain it even better.   So hopefully, this will be an opportunity for us both to learn and retain more!
